Rules for Borrowers

1. Any resident of the CCRLS area may obtain a library card with the proper identification. Identification for an adult is a current Oregon Driver’s License or I.D. A parent must sign for children (under 18) and present proof (birth certificate or SS card). Children must be 4 Years or older. Proof of current physical & mailing address is needed. New patrons may checkout 1 item and your library card will be mailed to the address provided. This enables the patron to receive notices when needed. Further checkouts will be 10 per checkout.

2. Overdue fines are 25 cents per day for Books, CD’s and Cassettes, and $1.00 per day for Videos and DVD’s. No items will be checked out to a patron owing more than $25.00. This includes the Internet computers.

3. Patrons will also be charged for damaged or lost materials. If the item is one of a set, then the cost of the set is charged. Items belonging to other libraries may require you to contact that library to resolve.

4. All materials are checked out for 3 weeks. Items may be renewed over the Internet, by calling the 24 hour renewal line (503-589-7740), or over the phone DURING library hours. If the item is already overdue, there will be a charge from the date due to the day they were renewed, including weekends and holidays. Renewal is 3 weeks from the date of renewal.

5. Library cards must be presented when checking out. If a card is lost or stolen, it is your responsibility to notify the library. A replacement card is $1.00. Remember: NO CARD, NO CHECKOUT, NO EXCEPTION. Key chain cards are also available for $1.00.

6. Patrons are allowed to place holds on other libraries materials through the card catalog station or from home via www.ccrls.org website. The Librarian will not take requests for holds over the phone. There is a .50 cent charge for holds not picked up.

7. Reference materials are to be used in the library and may not be checked out.

8. There is a limit of 20 books per person, and 10 videos / DVD’s, and 10 audio items PER HOUSEHOLD, per checkout, unless it is a new registration. Then the limit is 1, until the new card is mailed.

9. The City of Lyons will not be liable for accidents. The facilities are provided at patrons’ risk. Patrons must control their children or will be asked to leave. This is in compliance with ORS 153.545.

10. The Internet is accessed with your library card. A guest pass may be issued if you do not have one. If under 18 years old, a parent must sign a permission slip. No more than 2 hour visits per day. Exceptions: Patrons who are job searching and students doing approved schoolwork, may have longer time and have priority.

11. An annual Universal fee of $60.00 per household allows full service at all CCRLS Libraries for non-residents within the CCRLS boundaries. Non-resident children 17 and under may receive a C.A.R.E. card. A Basic card allows 10 checkouts and 10 holds.
