Lyons 2020 Summer Reading Program

Join the Lyons Public Library Summer Reading Program Imagine Your Story, and have a fun, free, and educational summer. Sign up begins June 16, 2020 with curbside pickup. Unfortunately with Covid-19, we are unable to have live performers or gatherings, so things will be different this year. There will be 2 “virtual” programs that can be accessed via the Internet. (See the dates & times below.) You may use the WiFi in the Library parking lot if you do not have Internet access. The library will have craft bags with supplies; activities; things to do as a family; and FREE BOOKS!

Read 10 hours and receive a book bag/backpack, plus many other certificates. For each additional 10 hours read, you may enter to win one of 6 themed baskets with lots of goodies. August 1, 2020 is the deadline to have reading logs in.

Reading is fun. So, let’s “expand our Imaginationat the Lyons Public Library!

Your reading log deadline has been extended to Sept. 4th. Also, stop in for your 2nd Craft kit and free books!

Starting July 21, 2020, the Lyons Public Library will open back up to the public. According to the City of Lyons, OHA, and the CDC, patrons must follow guidelines to use the library.

Patrons must wear masks, (available upon request), wash or sanitize their hands, and practice social distancing of maintaining 6 feet apart. Patrons must use the front door, limit how many in the family come in (limit of 8 persons in the library at any time), and limit their use of the facility to 30 minutes, unless using the Internet computers.

We have taken precautions and have posted decals for 6’ apart, installed plexi-glass shields, are providing face masks upon request, are using extra sanitation methods, and materials are quarantined for 72 hours.

Handmade masks for children have been donated. They are in sealed plastic bags and will be displayed, so you may pick (touch) only the one you are taking. The summer reading program kits are being handed out with free books, so if you haven’t received yours yet, you can call the library during regular hours for curb-side pickup, or pick them up once the library opens. Another craft kit (and free books) will be available the end of July.

The Library staff are eager to serve you, and to get books into the hands of our children. If you have any questions, please call the library during open hours. They are: Tuesday-Wednesday 11:30-5:00; Thursday 1:00-6:30; Friday 1:00-5:00; and Saturday 10:00-3:30. The library is closed Sundays and Mondays. The phone number is 503-859-2366. Visit our website, or follow us on Facebook.

For the safety of our patrons and staff, you must put their safety first.

 Please stay safe.
